LA UNION — Amid reports on lost or double modules received by students, teachers coordinated with Barangay Bagbag, Bauang officials to solve the problems on module distribution for students residing in the barangay.
Garry Licay, a teacher from Don Eulogio De Guzman Memorial National High School, said that they cooperated with the barangay hall in ensuring that every student gets their modules on time.
According to Mayflor Sequig, Barangay Kagawad and head of the Committee on Education, the first module distribution of students in the covered court of Bagbag was unorganized.

“It is not by grade level, and the parents or students who were late did not receive them,” she said in Ilocano.
Sheila Marie Caniezo, Bagbag’s secretary, said that some students and parents thought that another student would receive the module when they failed to get them during the designated schedule set by the school.
She also said that there were instances that others got two sets of modules, one for the parent and one for the student.
With this, Licay clarified that the transactions of module distribution were recorded through the “receiving form” given for the parents or students and the “releasing form” for the teachers.
They ensured that every student gets one module as reflected in the forms.
“Receiving double modules is not possible because we check the [receiving] form per subject on what they get,” Licay said.
For unclaimed modules, Licay stated that “there are parents or students who fail to get the modules on time, so we leave them in the care of the barangay hall but we put the names [of the students] and inform them via Messenger, if available.”
Licay emphasized that the issue of the shortage of modules is not in the distribution but in the printing, especially that it is a big school that caters to many students.
“The modules run out because when we retrieve [the modules] from the school, they are in packs, and sometimes there are errors in the number of students. So when we sort them out, there are shortages,” he said.
With the help of Barangay Tanods and the assistance of Sequig, the following module distributions succeed without problems.
Module distributions were held in the covered court of the barangay as per the instructions of Captain Eva Orpilla.
The distribution strictly followed the protocols of mandatory use of masks and social distancing to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. #
